Shalom All,

Typically, summers are very quiet at a congregation. The school year has ended and the High Holy Day plans still seem far enough away that they need not draw much attention yet. Services draw a steady but smaller crowd with fewer celebratory occasion to bring more people in.

This summer, at Temple Judah, has been anything but typical. There has already been: a Musical Shabbat, a Bat Mitzvah, a wedding, two baby-namings and a funeral. There are still to come: two more weddings, another Bat Mitzvah, a baby-naming and a Musical Shabbat & Board Installation/Recognition evening. And that's just in August.

Add to this the changes being made to our Religious School year, about which President Dillon wrote in his column this month, and I can can honestly say it's been a very busy summer. But it's been a good busy. Important, fun moments in our community’s lives, which shine in our memories because we celebrate them together. Even the funeral was no less important as we were able to ease the burden of one of our members in his time of need.

I encourage all of you to keep an eye on the calendar this month. There is a lot going on, which means more opportunities to celebrate with each other. The more of these moments that we share together, the stronger we will be as a community.

Chazak, Chazak, V'nitchazek.
May we move from strength to strength.
